Seafarer shot in tanker attack off Malaysia

A seafarer was shot in the neck during an attack by Indonesian pirates on a product tanker MT Ji Xiang anchored off the south-west coast of Johor in Malaysia.

The MT Ji Xiang was reported to have been boarded by seven pirates who stole cash and personal belongings before fleeing when a Malaysian patrol boat intervened.

The injured seafarer is recovering in hospital and his injuries were described as minor.
